Maddie looked great but racing U23 meant she could never out-qualify Savilia and Haley who auto-qualified as elites in a criteria tier above the U23 tier (2 elite World Cup top fives). She would’ve had to win two U23 world cups to qualify (similar to Amos) and that still would not have been enough. Similar to how Blevins getting a second top 5 would have put him ahead of Amos in auto-qualifying tiers.
I still don't understand how U23 results against lesser (but still fantastic) fields qualifies someone over elites racing elites. Jenn Jackson deservers to go to the Olympics. Nothing against Isabella. But she won't be racing U23s in Paris.
