The UCI announced, today, the 2021-2022 UCI World Cup calendar. Sixteen rounds of World Cup racing with the first three in the United States, as previously reported here on the Bulletin. The December 5 and December 12 races are currently mystery events, so still to be seen if all 16 scheduled events materialize. Six races are in Belgium, three in the U.S, two in the Netherlands, two in France and one in Czech Republic.
While it’s great the UCI is giving us three rounds + Worlds in 2021-22, they seem a bit shaky in geography. Wisconsin then south to Arkansas then back north to Iowa....lots of travel there. But maybe that was a nod to promoters of long stand races to have weekend dates? Bring on the vaccines 💉 so this really happens!
You were right about that unholy Trinity of US races stacked up... Holy Road Trip, Clara! It means North Americans in the front rows of races all season, along with whomever can afford to come to them from Europe. (Does having to come back for Worlds help or hurt teams budget?)
Is that correct the the first two are 4 days apart, starting on a Wednesday?

Any guesses on where the mystery events are going to be held?

With 16 world cups, will most Europeans skip the 3 US events?
