Gullegem turned out to be a far more interesting race than I expected. The course itself was maybe not the most exciting. It is a bit like Loenhout without the ditches and in an industrial park rather than a residential neighborhood. Like Loenhout this race seems like it really needs a crowd (about 10,000 the last time the race was run) in order to thrive and so we were lucky that is was able to go ahead this year.
But there was plenty to like in the 2022 edition. In particular, due to the small fields and the absence of some of the biggest stars, it was a great opportunity to showcase some new battles and see some new faces and some new kits at the front end. I don’t think I have ever read so many new names while trying to identify the riders in my photos. It can become a bit repetitive seeing the same names and faces, especially at this late stage of the season, so this was a really refreshing change.
These are some incredible shots. I'll say it again, having this level of access to the sport I love, is incredible. Thanks for being good at what you do.
