This past weekend the World Cup returned to the Château de Flamanville in Normandy. The riders tackled a course that was very similar to the 2021 edition but with a few tweaks. The double fly-over remained, for example, but on the other end of the course a small bridge was built across the pond/moat that surrounds the front side of the Château. This course will see two more days of racing this Saturday and Sunday as it is also hosting the Coupe de France.
There was a bit of a kerfuffle over the weekend as the management of rider Toon Aerts publicly advised riders attending race to avoid eating local dairy products. Aerts’s positive and that of roadie Shari Bossuyt both occurred in the region and involved a substance that could be present in cow’s milk. Left unexplained was how the many local racers could consume unholy amounts of dairy products year after year and never test positive themselves.
