Offseason Side Project: Nowhere Fast Podcast Episode 14, Now with More Boedi
Media Pit member Micheal Boedigheimer stops by the virtual racing podcast you didn't know you needed
Even though Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert continue to dominate the headlines during the early Spring Classics season, yes, cyclocross season is still sadly almost a month in the rearview.
With ‘cross season over, Bill and I are producing some ‘cross content and dabbling with our various side projects—oh, and that whole real job that pays the bills thing, don’t want to forget about that.
One cycling beat I got into during my time at Cyclocross Magazine was the nascent world of virtual racing. While I know a lot of cyclocross racers are loathe to ride the trainer, living in Wisconsin and now Minnesota, trainer rides from September through sometimes May have been a regular part of life for me, and during that indoor time, somewhere between the endless reruns of Dexter and Law and Order SVU and podcasts galore, I got into dabbling in Zwift racing.
As it turns out, there is an entire subculture surrounding Zwift racing, including teams, stars, controversies, and of course, because cycling, cheating. Early last summer, kind of on a whim, Kevin Bouchard-Hall (aka KBH), whom some of you might know from the NECX scene, Mike Swart, a friend of mine from Madison, and I started a podcast called Nowhere Fast that focuses on the world of virtual racing on Zwift and other platforms.
A show we expected to end after 2 episodes is still somehow going strong at 14 shows plus another 5 we dropped in the Wide Angle Podium Parts Bin. On the latest episode, Media Pit member Micheal Boedigheimer dropped by the Nowhere Fast studio to quiz KBH and Mike about their impressive Zwift exploits.
As Bill has said, it’s the podcast about virtual bike racing you didn’t know you needed.
