In stand-up comedy, the age-old adage is that local references get you local work. If you want to break out of your hometown scene, you have to appeal to a bigger audience. For years, that’s how I approached cyclocross. I’d rather cover the U.S. and world scene than concentrate solely on my home region. But the Bulletin has me rethinking this approach and hoping to add a little more local flavor into our coverage when appropriate. One service that I think we can easily provide is a clearinghouse for regional cyclocross calendars that may not always appear on the USAC calendar or anywhere else, for that matter.
To kick things off, here is the calendar of known races for the Mid-Atlantic Bike Racing Association (MABRA) region. This includes series such as the Super Series and the Sportif Cup. It also includes UCI races in the region and notable independent grassroots monuments that may take place in the heart of Washington, DC.
If you’re sharing this calendar, which I hope you do, remember: this is not the MAC calendar. That’s something entirely different. It’s MABRA. Or, as I like to call it, the biggest cyclocross region you’ve never heard of. Links will be added as they become available.
If you want to submit your regional calendar, drop us a line at cxhairsbulletin@gmail.com.

Thanks for posting this. Shameless plug for Bill but also straight from my heart… DCCX is one of the finest events I have done in my travels as a masters CX wanker. Mostly cuz DC rocks, and their urban cyclocross scene is so inclusive and cool. Regional cross series are the core of the US scene, and arguably the best bicycle racing the USA has to offer. Now to figure out how to ditch life, family, work etc so I can escape to the nation’s capital to race bikes and visit the Mall…
Thanks again Bill! Appreciate the asterisk love!
