The learning curve in broadcasting a cyclocross series in the US is steep, and starting that process in Rochester made the challenge even more significant. Unlike upcoming venues in the USCX series, like Charm City and Kings, Rochester is a tough egg to crack. Many wooded sections and a big chunk of real estate to cover meant the broadcast team needed to start from a sprint, but they didn’t.
Looking back on the coverage that got progressively better as the weekend went along, it should not be a controversial statement that the women’s field on Saturday drew the short end of the coverage stick. To help alleviate that shortfall, this episode of cyclocross television attempts to fill in the holes. It’s far from comprehensive, with just one camera and two legs, but I hope it complements what you saw on GCN.
One note on the interviews at the end, my microphone settings were out of whack for my chats with Clara, Caroline, and Becca, and the audio is not the quality that I want. Apologies for that. I will make sure to get that squared away going forward.
Thanks for watching …
