Cyclocross Radio Ep 225 | Anti-Transgender Legislation Panel
On today's episode of Cyclocross Radio, we have a bit of a different format. With the passing of anti-transgender legislation in Arkansas and a rash of similar bills introduced in state legislatures across the US, I wanted to offer the cyclocross radio platform as a place in which transgender voices in our cycling community could be heard. My goal was to step aside and let anyone who came forward have free rein of the show. I didn't want to be the person leading the conversation or asking questions that place the participants in an all too familiar position of having to do the heavy lifting of explaining who they are, what's going on, and why it's so bad. And I think what you will hear succeeded in that. It was more a discussion, an impromptu working group, an airing of grievances, and overall a productive and engaging conversation.
The participants in this chat are Molly Cameron, a bike racer, former bike shop owner, advocate, and a longtime player in the cycling industry, Tara Seplavey who has worked in the cycling industry for years and is most recently a senior tech editor at Bicycling Magazine, she also hosts her own podcast, the pink-blue-white podcast which you can find at the gravel lot.com. Austin Killips who races cyclocross for the Pratt Racing Team and is a bike shop mechanic, and Evelyn Sifton, a road and crit racer for Shadow Elite Racing who brought a Canadian perspective to the conversation.
