Curtis White Worlds Course Preview Ride Along
Ride along with Curtis White for a lap of the Oostende Worlds course
After all the build-up, the 2021 Cyclocross World Championships in Oostende, Belgium are less than 24 hours away. We here at the Bulletin have dropped start lists, and previewed the Elite Women, U23 Women, and Elite Men’s races.
With COVID making travel unfeasible this year, the one thing we have not been able to do is check out the track in Oostende in person. Fortunately, Curtis White has been cranking out quality podcasts and video content all season, and he put together a narrated preview video of the Oostende track on Thursday.
The course appears to be largely flat, save the giant bridge over a highway from the hippodrome side of the course to the beach. It appears the beach will feature a mix of riding and running, and then once riders head up over the bridge again, the course is, at first glance, largely nondescript with flowy corners concentrated on a golf course.
In his video, White described the course as “epic,” no doubt because the sand and that second climb up the steep bridge will be taxing, but friend of the Bulletin Josh McKinney offered a thought that’s hard to shake when watching White’s video:
Anyway, peep White’s video and judge for yourself.
