USA Cycling has uploaded an 11-event calendar titled the “USA Cycling Cyclocross National Series” to its website. This format seems to be the same as the former Pro CX, just with a new name that aligns with other disciplines.
According to the page, the season begins September 7-8 in Wisconsin with Englewood CX, a new UCI C2 weekend. This is a week before GO Cross, which has been the season opener the past several seasons.
GO Cross is the first race in the USCX series, which will feature C1/C2 events on four consecutive weekends: Go Cross (September 14-15), Rochester Cyclocross (September 21-22), Charm City Cross (September 28-29), and Trek CX Cup (October 5-6).
The season continues with Major Taylor (C2 October 12-13), Kings CX (C1/C2 October 19-20), Really Rad Festival of Cyclocross (C1/C2 October 26-27).
The Pan-American Championships will once again be held in Missoula, Montana on November 3. Thunder CX, a C2 event will be held the day before at the same venue.
There had been talk of another new C2 weekend, Wild West CX, in Colorado on November 9-10, but that event is not included in USA Cycling’s national series. As we know from previous years, this calendar is a living document and may change at any time.
Nash Dash-EPTC CX in Georgia is back for its second year (C2 November 16-17) and the season closer is once again in Hendersonville for the North Carolina Grand Prix (C2 November 23-24).
The National Championships return to Louisville December 9-15.
I’m sure we will have much more to say on this calendar in the coming weeks and months. For now, enjoy you cyclocross-is-coming pre-season and start making those travel plans.
Hope Wild West CX materializes - raced it last year and it had some phenomenally cool sections (you get to ride through rodeo arenas!)
